Yetis Split with Fayetteville Tech
The Yetis Baseball team split a home doubleheader with Fayetteville Tech in a Region 10 conference matchup at McNair Field.
Originally planned for a three-game series, rain forced the teams to play only two games on the weekend.
The Yetis took game one with at 10-2 run rule win in 7 innings. Josh Compton (Jackson Co., GA) went all 7 innings, striking out five and giving up no earned runs. Derek Ortiz (Cape Coral, FL) led the offense with three hits, 2 RBI's and a team leading 6th home run for the season.
Game two saw the Yetis fall behind 5-0 but rally with 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to fall by a final of 5-4. Starter Bailey McGinnis (Rutherfordton, NC) went 6 innings while striking out 9 batters. Janniel Berroa (Miami, FL) led the offense with 3 hits on the day with Riley Cash (Shelby, NC) driving in two runs.
The Yetis will close out Region 10 Conference play in the coming weeks as they travel to Wake Tech May 1-2 and finish the season at home versus Catawba Valley CC May 8-9.
