Yetis Gain First Conference Win
The Cleveland Community College Yetis Baseball team collected their first ever conference win Sunday with an 11-5 victory at Guilford Tech (Region 10 West Division).
The win secured a split in the 3 game series with Guilford Tech narrowly winning both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday (11-9, 6-5).
Bailey McGinnis (Rutherfordton, NC) gained the win on Sunday, going six innings, striking out seven batters and giving up only one earned run. Kyras Dawson (Washington, DC) led the offense with 2 hits, including a home run and three runs batted in.
Over the course of the tightly contested series, the Yetis offense paced the team, outscoring Guilford 25-22 over the three games. In addition to Dawson, three other batters collected homeruns over the weekend: Parker Shope (Flowery Branch, GA), Davis Turner (Mooresville, NC), and Logan Brock (Leonardtown, MD).
Following two mid-week contests, the Yetis will travel to Fayetteville Tech for a three game Region 10 Conference series on Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21.
