Sophomore's Honored : Yetis Sweep Wake Tech
The Baseball team hosted Wake Tech for the final home series of the 2022 season this weekend.
The Yetis would win all three games by scores of 10-6, 3-2, and 11-3. Prior to the first game on Saturday, all sophomore players were recognized for their contributions to the baseball program at CCC with an on-field ceremony.
In Game 1 of the series, Kael Snethen homered and drove in three runs. Quentin Romo pitched three scoreless innings in relief and Kyle Flynn pitched the final four innings scoreless to get the win. In Game 2, Tyler Casciato and Mike Huber would both homer. Huber's 10th home run of the season would secure the lead for the Yetis. Parker Kanupp would pitch 6 innings while striking out 10 Eagle batters. Boone Cartee closed out the 7th inning to collect the save. In the series finale on Sunday, Robert Moya and Davis Turner would both have two doubles. Graham Brown would go five complete innings and struck out five to get the win. Cole Curtis would pitch a scoreless inning in relief, striking out two batters.
"It's always great to get a series sweep," said Head Coach Tyler Dawson. "We knew we needed to win the series to improve our seeding in the tournament and our guys played well this weekend."
The Yetis improve their record to 27-21 overall and 19-14 in Region 10. They now move on to the Region 10 DII Tournament for the first time in the history of the second year program. As the third seed from the Western Division, the Yetis will face Pitt CC, the second seed from the East. The Tournament is being held this year at Big Rock Stadium in Morehead City, NC and the Yetis will play Pitt at 10 am on Thursday, May 5 to open the tournament.
