Yetis Sweep #3 Rhinos
The Yetis baseball team swept #3 nationally ranked Gaston College in a mid-week tilt on Wednesday.
In Game 1, CCC won 18-16, and in Game 2, the Yetis won 6-3. The games were the final in the 6 game series between the two Region 10 West Division participants with each team achieving three wins each.
In Game 1, Davis Turner and Ayden Sciandra would homer for the Yetis. Tyler Casciato drove in 5 runs in the offensive output. Boone Cartee would pitch the final 3 innings, giving up only one earned run and striking out three Rhinos to close out the victory. In Game 2, Mike Huber would homer for the 9th time this season and drive in 3 RBI's. Janniel Berroa would go five complete innings, striking out seven batters to collect the win. Matias Marchesini would pitch the final two scoreless innings to collect the save.
"This was a big win for us," said Head Coach Tyler Dawson. "We needed these wins to put us in position to improve our seeding in the Region Tournament next week. Now, we've got to take care of business this weekend."
The Yetis face Wake Tech this weekend in the final home series and regular season games for the season. The winner of the series will go in as the #3 West seed for the Region 10 tournament which begins next week on Thursday, May 5 in Morehead City, NC.
