Huge Sweep for Baseball
The Baseball team traveled to Guilford Tech for an Easter weekend three game series.
The Yetis swept the Titans by scores of 13-10, 4-3, and 7-5. It was the third regional sweep for the Yetis this season.
In Game 1, Janniel Berroa would homer and Davis Turner would drive in 3 runs. Pitching in relief, Cole Curtis would go 3.1 innings to collect the win. Boone Cartee would pitch the final 3.1 innings to get the save. In Game 2, Mike Huber would homer and drive in 3 runs. Graham Brown would go the distance on the mound, pitching all seven innings and striking out 13 Titan batters. In Game 3, Huber would homer, his eighth on the season. Kyras Dawson doubled and tripled and both Dawson and Huber would drive in 2 runs on the day. Starter Clayton Lanser-Proctor would go 5 complete innings and strike out 7. Avery Bridges pitched in relief along with Matias Marchesini who would close out the game and gain the win.
"Gaining the series sweep was a big boost for us in the standings, particularly after missing three region games due to weather last weekend," said Head Coach Tyler Dawson. "Graham Brown did a great job on the mound in game 2 and Mike Huber came up big, going yard in consecutive games."
The Yetis are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Gaston College for a mid-week Region doubleheader. They then travel to Florence-Darlington on Saturday for doubleheader.
