Yetis Split with Patrick and Henry
The Baseball team traveled to Martinsville, VA on Saturday and Sunday to take on the defending Region 10 champions, Patrick & Henry CC.
The Yetis achieved a split winning game 2 on Saturday 7-6. The Patriots won game one 13-4 and the finale 7-6.
In the game 2 victory, Robert Moya would homer and Kyras Dawson and Tyler Casciato would hit doubles. Parker Kanupp would get the win pitching 6.1 innings and striking out 12 Patriot batters. Boone Cartee would get the save as he pitched the final two outs of the 7th inning. Kanupp had previously led all of NJCAA Division II in strikeouts on the season. But, would fall out of the top standings after a bye weekend for the Yetis the previous week. With his 12 strikeouts on Saturday, Kanupp has moved to 2nd in the nation in strikeouts.
"To go on the road against the defending region champs and get a win is huge for our young program," said Head Coach Tyler Dawson. "It was a hard fought series that could have gone either way on Sunday, and I'm proud of our guys and our coaching staff for how they performed."
Following a mid-week home game versus Surry CC on Wednesday, the Yetis host Catawba Valley CC in a region series at home this weekend.
