Yetis Take Region Series
The baseball team won their Region Series at Wake Tech 2-1 over the weekend at Ting Park in Holly Springs.
The series win was the Yetis third Region series win in a row following sweeps over Guilford Tech and Southwest Virginia.
In game 1 of the series, the Yetis would lose to Wake Tech 11-8. Robert Moya homered and Davis Turner drove in two RBI's. Janniel Berroa would strike out seven Eagles in four innings of work on the mound. In game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, the Yetis would bounce back with a 17-5 run rule win in six innings after scoring 9 runs in the top of the 6th. Robert Moya would homer twice to finish with three home runs on the day. Parker Kanupp would pitch all 6 innings, striking out 12 batters. In the series finale on Sunday, the Yetis continued to show their offensive firepower with a 16-9 win. Darian Munoz, Berroa, and Davis Turner would all homer on the day. Patrick Spangler and Connor Sampers would pitch scoreless innings and Matias Marchesini would go the final two innings, giving up no earned runs.
"Our bats won the series for us this weekend," said Head Coach Tyler Dawson. "We got big hits at crucial times and our offense looked great in all three games."
The Yetis travel to Martinsville, VA this weekend for a Region 10 series with Patrick & Henry Community College.
