Dawson Records First Homer in Park History
Cleveland Community College celebrated the Grand Opening of the Yetis Athletic Park with their first home games in a weekend series versus Region 10 opponent Patrick & Henry CC (Martinsville, VA).
The Patriots, ranked fourth nationally, swept the Yetis by a combined total of 3 runs, winning 2-1 and 7-6 in the Saturday doubleheader and by a score of 5-4 in the series finale on Sunday.
In Game 1, Parker Kanupp had a strong performance, going 5 innings and striking out 8 Patriot batters. In the top of the first inning, Giulianny Perera recorded the first out in park history on a fly ball to left field. Kanupp would then record the first strikeout in park history as Trevor Sheehan would go down swinging. In game 3 of the series, Kyras Dawson hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 3rd inning, scoring Kael Snethen. The blast to left center field was the first home run hit in Yetis Athletic Park.
The Yetis next travel to Brevard College on Wednesday for a single, 9 inning game.
