Yetis Sweep GTCC
The baseball team won both ends of their Sunday doubleheader at Guilford Tech by scores of 14-3 and 6-5.
Originally scheduled as a three game Region 10 series, games were canceled on Saturday due to wet, unplayable field conditions.
Jamisen Eichacker would pitch five innings while striking out six Titan batters for the game one win. Jordan Searcy would close out the 8th inning in a game that finished by run rule. Alex Adams and Aiden Schenck would homer with Adams driving in four runs and Schenck driving in five. In game two, Kyle Murphy would go four innings, striking out nine. Denis Drinkwalter was the winning pitcher, throwing two innings in relief and striking out four. Ben Hemphill would homer for the offense and Schenck would drive in two RBI's.
"Getting region wins is what we strive for," said Head Coach John Grigg. "We came out strong in game one and the team battled hard to give us a tight win in game two."
The Yetis are on the road Wednesday at Caldwell in a non-conference mid-week game. Originally scheduled to be on the road this coming weekend at Southwest Virginia, games have been moved to Shelby due to impending weather.
