The tributes set the tone for an unforgettable weekend on the diamond.
Game 1: Yetis Blast to a 14–3 Victory
The opener on Saturday was nothing short of a showcase, as Cleveland exploded for a 14–3 run-rule win in just five innings.
Nick Morris was the catalyst early, hammering a three-run homer in the first inning and following up with a two-run double in the second. Morris finished 3-for-3 with 6 RBIs, while Logan Norris added a perfect 3-for-3 performance with three runs scored.
The Yetis poured on eight runs in the second inning alone, capitalizing on relentless pressure and timely hits, including doubles from Mason White (2), Tanner Britt, and Owen Liberto.
On the mound, sophomore Jackson Gowan pitched 3.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 earned runs while collecting his first win of the season. Kohen Orr closed the door with 1.1 scoreless innings, including two strikeouts.
The team's offensive efficiency was undeniable, racking up 15 hits and only leaving three runners stranded.
Game 2: Walk-Off Drama Seals the Doubleheader Sweep
The second game on Saturday brought a much tighter contest. Trailing 3–0 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Yetis refused to be denied.
Avery Russell sparked the comeback with a critical RBI double to score Cruise Arnold, cutting the deficit. Moments later, Owen Liberto delivered a towering two-run homer to center field, completing a dramatic 4–3 walk-off win.
Keely Furr was solid across five innings, surrendering just one run and striking out three. Miles Corcoran pitched two pressure-packed innings in relief, earning his first collegiate win.
Despite managing only seven hits, the Yetis' resilience showed their championship mindset.
Game 3: Sunday Thriller Ends with Walk-Off Magic
Sunday's finale was a battle of heart and grit, fitting for a weekend dedicated to this special sophomore class. Patrick & Henry jumped to an early 3–0 lead, but the Yetis answered with an explosive sixth inning, sparked by a two-run homer from Trenton Doss and solo shots by Cruise Arnold and Avery Russell.
After falling behind again in the seventh, Doss struck again with his second home run of the game, tying it 6–6. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Doss reached base and ultimately scored the game-winning run on Cruise Arnold's walk-off single to left field, capping off a thrilling 7–6 win.
The Yetis used five different pitchers in the extra-inning battle, with Andrew Hart earning the win after tossing two scoreless frames under intense pressure.
Looking Ahead
With the sweep, the Yetis build tremendous momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Their blend of seasoned leadership and youthful energy sets the stage for a promising postseason run.
One thing is certain: this sophomore class has left an indelible mark at Cleveland — one that will be felt long after the final out is recorded this season.
