The Cleveland Community College Yetis men's basketball team wrapped up a busy late-December and early-January stretch with a mix of hard-fought lessons and strong bounce-back performances, showing resilience and depth across three contests.
December 18 – At Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute
Caldwell CCTI 89, Cleveland 79
The Yetis battled on the road but came up short against a hot-shooting Caldwell squad. Cleveland stayed within striking distance throughout, trailing just 41–37 at the break before Caldwell extended its advantage in the second half.
Kelan Flowers delivered a standout offensive night, pouring in 30 points while attacking the rim and drawing fouls consistently. He added seven assists and five rebounds, keeping Cleveland competitive offensively. Miles Beard provided a strong spark off the bench with 16 points, knocking down three triples, while Jacob Adair contributed 10 points and four assists.
Cleveland protected the ball well with only five turnovers, but Caldwell's edge on the glass (44–32) and 53.3% shooting proved decisive down the stretch.
December 20 – vs. Southwest Virginia
Cleveland 86, Southwest Virginia 69
Back home, the Yetis responded emphatically, using a fast start and balanced scoring to secure a convincing win. Cleveland jumped out to a 47–31 halftime lead and never let Southwest Virginia close the gap.
Flowers once again led the charge with 27 points, shooting efficiently from the floor and converting at the free-throw line. Jamari Smith was dominant inside, posting 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals, while Cairo Morales controlled the paint with a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds).
Cleveland shot an impressive 54.0% from the field and controlled the boards 43–22, setting the tone with physical play and unselfish ball movement.
January 3 – vs. Fayetteville Technical CC
Cleveland 85, Fayetteville Tech 70
The Yetis opened the new year with another strong home performance, pulling away in the second half after a tight opening 20 minutes. Cleveland outscored Fayetteville Tech 50–33 after halftime, fueled by defensive pressure and timely shooting.
Flowers led all scorers with 21 points, while Adair added 14 points and Beard chipped in 13 off the bench. Josh Bullock provided a big lift in limited minutes, scoring 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting and dishing out five assists.
Cleveland knocked down 10 three-pointers, forced Fayetteville Tech into difficult shots, and recorded 10 steals, showcasing energy on both ends of the floor.
Across the three-game stretch, the Yetis showed their ability to respond, leaning on veteran scoring, strong interior play, and depth off the bench. With momentum building at home, Cleveland continues to establish itself as a tough out as conference play progresses.
