The Cleveland Community College Yetis men's basketball team put together an impressive two-game homestand in early January, earning back-to-back wins while showcasing offensive firepower, depth, and control on the glass.
Yetis Outlast Catawba Valley, 104–97
Cleveland opened the stretch with a hard-fought 104–97 victory over Catawba Valley Community College on January 7, using a dominant second half to flip the script. After trailing 52–42 at the break, the Yetis surged for 62 second-half points, outscoring the Red Hawks by 17 over the final 20 minutes.
Kelan Flowers delivered a standout performance, pouring in a game-high 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting while knocking down three triples. His scoring punch sparked Cleveland's comeback and set the tone offensively. Miles Beard provided a strong lift off the bench with 20 points, attacking the basket and finishing through contact.
Josh Bullock filled the stat sheet with 12 points and a team-high six assists, directing the offense and getting teammates involved. Inside, Cairo Morales anchored the paint with a double-double effort of 10 rebounds and seven points, helping Cleveland dominate the boards 45–32. Cameron McDowell added 12 points and steady minutes off the bench as the Yetis leaned on their depth to wear down Catawba Valley late.
Cleveland Pulls Away from Pitt, 91–73
Three days later, the Yetis carried that momentum into a convincing 91–73 win over Pitt Community College on January 10. Cleveland held a slim 43–41 edge at halftime before erupting for 48 second-half points to pull away.
Flowers once again led the way, turning in a lights-out shooting performance with 31 points while drilling seven three-pointers. He finished 12-of-18 from the floor and was the clear offensive catalyst as Cleveland shot 55.6 percent as a team.
Morales continued his strong interior play, recording another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Tamareion Roundtree made his presence felt off the bench, grabbing 12 rebounds to go with 13 points, giving the Yetis a major advantage in second-chance opportunities. Bullock added seven points and six assists, while Jacob Adair chipped in 11 points and solid perimeter defense.
Cleveland controlled the glass 39–15 and used balanced scoring and defensive pressure to keep Pitt from finding rhythm in the second half.
With two wins in three days, the Yetis showed their ability to adjust, score from multiple levels, and rely on depth to close games strong. Cleveland's blend of perimeter shooting, rebounding dominance, and bench production continues to make them a tough matchup as conference play moves forward.
