Yetis Track & Field Opens Season with Four School Records at Tryon Invitational
The Cleveland Community College Yetis Track & Field team opened its season in impressive fashion at the Tryon Bestest Banked Invitational on Friday, February 20 at the Tryon Equestrian Center, delivering a statement performance to kick off the year.
The Yetis set four school records in their season debut, highlighted by Elijah Stroud's standout 16:51 in the 5,000 meters. Stroud also played a key role in the record-setting 4x400-meter relay, running alongside Jordan Marble, Jaylon Porter, and Brayden Rushing to etch another mark into the program's record book.
Chris Childs soared to a new CCC record in the long jump with a leap of 6.2 meters, showcasing explosive power in the field events. Rushing added to the historic day by setting a new school record in the mile before anchoring the 4x400 relay team to cap off the Yetis' record-breaking performance.
On the track, Leilanni Delano and Fred Nelson competed in the 800 meters, while Alisa Powe sprinted in both the 200 meters and 60 meters, adding depth to a strong overall showing for the Yetis.
With multiple records falling and strong performances across events, the Yetis opened the season with momentum and confidence as they look ahead to the rest of the indoor campaign.
