Yetis Shine with Record-Breaking Performances at JCSU Invitational
The Cleveland Community College Yetis track & field team delivered a strong showing on Friday, April 3 at the JCSU Invitational, highlighted by multiple record-breaking performances and standout finishes.
Elijah Stroud led the way for the Yetis with a remarkable performance in the 1500 meters. Stroud shaved an impressive 12 seconds off his previous time, setting a new school record with a time of 4:15.81 and earning a second-place finish overall. His effort continues to solidify his place as one of the program's top distance runners.
Brayden Rushing followed with another record-setting performance in the 800 meters, narrowly missing the two-minute mark but still breaking the school record with a time of 2:00.41. His continued progression in the middle-distance events has been a major boost for the Yetis this season.
In the field events, Chris Childs made his mark by breaking his own school record in the long jump with a leap of 6.41 meters. Childs showcased his versatility throughout the meet, also competing in the triple jump and the 100 meters.
Additional contributions came from Fred Nelson, who competed in both the 400 and 800 meters, while Jordan Marble ran in the 100 and 200 meters. Jaylon Porter added depth in the distance events, competing in both the 1500 and 800 meters.
On the women's side, Leilanni Delano represented the Yetis in the 400 and 800 meters, continuing to build consistency in her performances. Alisa Powe competed in the discus, rounding out the Yetis' presence in the field events.
With multiple school records falling and strong performances across the board, the Yetis continue to build momentum as the season progresses.
