Yetis Track & Field Season Highlighted by Record-Breaking Performances
The Cleveland Community College Yetis Track & Field program put together a strong 2026 season filled with steady growth, personal bests, and school-record performances across multiple events. From sprints to distance races to field events, the Yetis continued to raise the standard for the program throughout the spring season.
Elijah Stroud led the way with one of the most impressive individual seasons in program history. Stroud finished the year with three school records, the most by a single athlete this season. He set new program marks in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:15, the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:32, and the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:37. His consistent performances in the distance events made him one of the top standouts for the Yetis.
Brayden Rushing also delivered a standout season in the middle-distance events. Rushing lowered the 800 meter school record in three consecutive meets, continuing to build momentum each time he stepped on the track. He capped off that record-breaking stretch at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational, where he finished with a new school-record time of 1:58.
In the sprints, Jordan Marble added his name to the record book with a strong performance in the 100 meter. Marble set a new school record with a time of 11.18, showcasing his speed and helping highlight the Yetis' progress in the sprint events.
Chris Childs made his mark in the field events, advancing to the finals in the long jump at both Johnson C. Smith and Appalachian State. Childs set a new school record with a jump of 6.41 meters, adding another milestone to a season filled with record-setting performances for Cleveland.
The Yetis also saw continued development across the roster. Fred Nelson set personal bests in both the 400 and 800 meters, while Alisa Powe represented Cleveland in the 100 meters and discus. Leilanni Delano competed in the 400 and 800 meters, adding depth for the Yetis on the women's side.
Cleveland's season included strong showings at several meets, including the Tryon Invitational, Phoenix Invitational, Montreat Meet, JCSU Invitational, Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational, and John Weaver Invitational at Appalachian State. The program's official track and field page also highlighted several record-breaking performances throughout the season, including strong efforts at Montreat, JCSU, and Appalachian State.
With multiple school records, personal bests, and athletes competing across a wide range of events, the Yetis continued to build momentum and establish a stronger foundation for the future of Cleveland Community College Track & Field.
