Softball Sweeps Bobcats
The Yetis Softball team split with Camp CC on Saturday and swept Bryant and Stratton on Sunday to go 3-1 over the weekend. The team is now 7-1 in Region play against other Division II opponents.
The Yetis would drop game 1 of their doubleheader against Paul D. Camp CC on Saturday by a score of 11-7. They would then bounce back to win game 2 against the Hurricanes by a score of 11-8. Brianna Frye, Heather Griffis, and Sydney Hamilton all hit doubles in the winning effort. Sierra Crocker was the winning pitcher.
Against Bryant and Stratton on Sunday, the Yetis would overcome a seven run deficit to win game one of the doubleheader in dramatic fashion. Frye would hit two doubles in the offensive effort and Sydney Hamilton would hit a walk-off 3 run homer. Crocker would pitch five innings to collect the win. In game 2 the offense exploded for 8 runs in the first inning enroute to a 12-0 run rule win in five innings. Frye and Trinity Hatchel both hit home runs to lead the offense. Brooke Dover would pitch all 5 innings, giving up only one hit and striking out 9 of the Bobcats.
"Three of our games this weekend were tightly contested and we were able to get two wins in those close games," said Head Coach Ronald Beaver. "The team fought hard to come from behind and Sydney's home run to walk it off was big."
The Yetis are on the road this weekend as they travel to Wake Tech on Saturday and Pitt CC on Sunday.
