Softball to Open 2022 Season
The Yetis Softball team will begin their 2022 campaign with a season opener double header on Saturday versus Region 10 Division I member Spartanburg Methodist. Cleveland Community College will host all home softball games this season at Crest High School, 800 Old Boiling Springs Road in Shelby.
Returning for a 3rd season will be Elizabeth Hartsell (Mt. Pleasant HS), an original member of the first softball team at Cleveland in 2020. Hartsell's first season was cut short due to Covid restrictions which ended her first season after only a few weeks of play. That shortened season didn't count toward eligibility, allowing an additional season of play. Hartsell is primarily a pitcher, but has also seen duty at first base during her career at CCC.
Head Coach Ronald Beaver is entering his 3rd season with the Yetis. Joining the staff this season are a pair of new assistant coaches, Ashten Hinkle, a former player at Lenoir-Rhyne University, and Alley Ogle, a former player for Beaver with the Yetis.
Game one will begin at 1 pm with game two to begin at approximately 3 pm. Admission is $5 with free entry for Yeti Club members, children under 12, and College employees and students with College ID.
