Softball Splits and Sweep
The CCC softball team went 3-1 over the weekend splitting their doubleheader on Saturday and winning both games on Sunday. Following their initial games in Region 10 conference play, the Yetis are now in third place in the standings.
The team lost the Saturday opener at Fayetteville Tech 15-4. Hayle Eubanks would double and drive in a run. In game two, the Yetis bounced back to win 9-2. Brooke Dover would pitch all seven innings for the win while striking out seven Trojan batters. Kaylen Cales and Carmen Pruett would double with Cales driving in three runs and Brianna Frye would drive in two.
On Sunday, Cleveland would win both games at Pitt CC by scores of 4-2 and 13-12. In game one, Cales pitched six innings with Dover coming in to close out the win. Cales, Alexis Shope, and Trinity Hatchel would double for the offense with Mallory Haynes picking up two RBI's. In game 2, Dover would start as pitcher and go 6.1 innings with Cales coming in to relieve. Haynes would homer with Shope, Frye and Andrea Melton hitting doubles.
"This was a good weekend for the team," said Head Coach Ronald Beaver. "We had some strong pitching performances and clutch hitting to pull out the wins."
The Yetis are back in action on Thursday as they host Bryant and Stratton for a Region doubleheader beginning at noon. Cleveland will host Richard Bland on Sunday in another Region 10 doubleheader with a noon start.
