Yetis Softball Sweeps Surry Behind Explosive Offense and Strong Pitching
The CCC Yetis protected home turf in dominant fashion, sweeping a doubleheader against the Surry Knights with 8-3 and 12-2 victories on February 10.
Game One: Yetis Break It Open in the Fourth
After trading runs through the first three innings, the Yetis erupted for five runs in the fourth to seize control of the opener.
Zaley Packett set the tone early, ripping a triple to center field in the first inning to plate Peyton Whitson. Packett finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and later swiped two bags, keeping constant pressure on Surry's defense.
Whitson was equally impactful at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Sara Rose Warlick added a key two-run single in the fourth as part of a 1-for-4, two-RBI performance.
The big inning continued when Allison Setzer delivered a two-run single to extend the advantage, while Charlsey Oglesby went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk to spark the rally.
In the circle, Sophia Neal was steady and efficient. The right-hander went the distance, tossing a complete game while allowing just one earned run over seven innings. Neal scattered eight hits, struck out five, and walked two to earn the win.
The Yetis tallied 10 hits in the opener and capitalized on defensive miscues to pull away late.
Game Two: Seven-Run First Fuels Run-Rule Victory
If the fourth inning defined Game One, the first inning of Game Two left no doubt.
CCC exploded for seven runs in the opening frame and never looked back, finishing with 12 runs on 12 hits in a five-inning run-rule victory.
Warlick was locked in at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the charge. Packett followed with a 3-for-4 night of her own, driving in two runs and scoring twice.
Ryley Wheeler doubled and drove in a run, while Savannah Holleman added an RBI single. Brookelynn Farmer helped her own cause with a double and RBI as part of a 1-for-2 performance that included two runs scored and a walk.
Neal continued to impact the game offensively in the nightcap, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and swiping three bases. Whitson and Packett each added stolen bases as the Yetis aggressively attacked on the basepaths.
Farmer earned the win in the circle, throwing all five innings while allowing two runs on six hits. She struck out three and kept Surry from building any sustained momentum.
Statement Sweep
Across both games, the Yetis combined for 20 runs on 22 hits, showcasing depth throughout the lineup and discipline in the circle. From Packett and Warlick's clutch production to Neal and Farmer's command in the circle, CCC delivered a complete team performance to secure the sweep.
The Yetis continue to build momentum early in the season with balanced offense, aggressive baserunning, and lockdown pitching leading the way.
