Women's Basketball Closes Regular Season with Three-Game Win Streak

The Cleveland Community College women's basketball team surged into postseason play with momentum, securing three straight victories to close out the regular season in commanding fashion.

Yetis Roll Past Catawba Valley, 84-54

Cleveland set the tone early at the Tarlton Complex, using a balanced offensive attack and relentless defensive pressure to earn an 84-54 win over Catawba Valley.

The Yetis opened the game with a 24-point first quarter and never looked back, outscoring the Red Hawks in every frame except the fourth. Cleveland shot an efficient 53.8% from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers, while holding Catawba Valley to just 33.3% shooting.

Kiya Shavers led the charge with 19 points, draining five shots from beyond the arc while adding four steals. Kari Lee followed with 18 points on an impressive 7-of-9 shooting performance, along with five rebounds and three assists.

De'Mya Phifer dominated the paint with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds to record a double-double, while also dishing out six assists. Sydnie Enste controlled the glass with 11 rebounds and added six points, two blocks, and strong interior defense.

La'Tayshia Andrews orchestrated the offense with seven assists and five steals, and Ravin Brooks provided a spark off the bench with nine points, all from three-point range. Cleveland finished with 24 assists and forced 29 turnovers in a complete team performance.

Fourth Quarter Push Lifts Cleveland Over Southwest Virginia, 71-63

Two days later, the Yetis battled on the road at Southwest Virginia and used a dominant fourth quarter to secure a 71-63 victory.

Trailing after the first quarter, Cleveland settled in and closed the game on a 26-point fourth-quarter surge to seal the win.

Shavers delivered another strong performance with 20 points, connecting on six three-pointers. Phifer added 14 points and four made free throws, while Enste pulled down nine rebounds and went 5-of-6 from the line.

Brooks caught fire off the bench, scoring 10 points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting performance from beyond the arc. Isabella Childs was efficient in limited minutes, contributing seven points on 3-of-3 shooting.

Cleveland protected the basketball with just 11 turnovers and capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 82.4% of its attempts down the stretch.

Yetis Finish Regular Season Strong with 86-66 Win

Cleveland returned home to close the regular season with an 86-66 victory over Richard Bland College.

The Yetis built control early, leading 18-12 after the first quarter and extending the margin in each period. Cleveland outscored Richard Bland in all four quarters, finishing the regular season with authority in front of the home crowd.

The win marked the team's third straight and sends Cleveland into postseason play riding confidence and rhythm on both ends of the floor.

With balanced scoring, improved defensive intensity, and strong bench contributions throughout the stretch, the Yetis head into tournament play peaking at the right time.
