Yetis Honor Sophomores in Home Finale Against Bryant & Stratton
CLEVELAND, N.C. – The Cleveland Community College men's basketball team celebrated Sophomore Day on Sunday afternoon, recognizing Miles Beard, Kelan Flowers, Tamareion Roundtree, and Cairo Morales before tipping off against Bryant & Stratton College (VA). Despite a strong effort from the sophomore class, the Yetis fell 91-74 inside the CCC gym.
The visiting Bobcats shot an efficient 56.7 percent from the field and knocked down eight three-pointers to build a 43-38 halftime lead. Cleveland battled early, but Bryant & Stratton used a high-percentage second half to pull away.
Flowers led the charge for the Yetis in his final home appearance, pouring in a game-high 25 points. The sophomore guard was aggressive attacking the rim and flawless at the stripe, going 11-for-11 from the free throw line while adding four rebounds and two assists.
Roundtree delivered a strong presence in the paint, recording a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, including nine defensive boards. He also went 5-of-7 from the line and helped anchor the glass as Cleveland narrowly outrebounded Bryant & Stratton 33-32.
Jamari Smith added 12 points and six rebounds, while Jacob Adair contributed 13 points, knocking down three of his four attempts from beyond the arc.
Morales made the most of his opportunities, finishing with two points and three rebounds, including two on the offensive end to give the Yetis extra possessions.
Off the bench, Beard added seven points, highlighted by a three-pointer, while also dishing out an assist and recording a block.
As a team, Cleveland shot 91.7 percent from the free throw line (22-of-24), keeping the game within reach at times despite shooting 37.7 percent from the floor.
Though the result didn't fall in their favor, the afternoon marked a meaningful moment for the sophomore class. Beard, Flowers, Roundtree, and Morales were honored for their dedication and contributions to the program, leaving their mark on the Yetis' culture and competitiveness.
Cleveland will look to regroup and carry that momentum forward as postseason play approaches.
