Yetis Outlast Wake Tech in Five-Set Thriller
The Cleveland Community College volleyball team continued its hot streak on Wednesday night, earning another gritty road win with a 3–2 victory over Wake Technical Community College (25–19, 24–26, 25–18, 22–25, 15–8). The Yetis fought through momentum swings and a long rally-filled match to pull off their second straight five-set win in as many nights.
Cleveland opened strong with a confident first set, then traded points throughout a tight second before Wake Tech evened things up. The Yetis regrouped in the third set behind aggressive net play and smart serving, then closed out the match with a dominant fifth-set performance to seal the victory.
Janiyah Giddens had a breakout night, leading the offense with 11 kills on an impressive .391 hitting percentage. London Brown matched her firepower with 11 kills, while Amelia Pilgrim added 9 kills and 3 blocks in another strong front-row showing. Ariann Hernandez contributed across the board with 9 kills, 24 digs, and 3 aces, while setter Addison Beaver ran the offense efficiently with 27 assists, 3 aces, and 12 digs.
Defensively, the Yetis' back row was outstanding. Kaitlyn Clutter recorded 15 digs, and the team totaled 82 digs overall, helping them outlast Wake Tech in extended rallies.
With the win, Cleveland improves to 3–0 in their recent road stretch and continues to build momentum heading into mid-October.
