The Cleveland Community College volleyball team put together a strong weekend of play on their home court, earning wins over Southwest Virginia and Lenoir Community College while falling to Pitt Community College.
Cleveland 3, Southwest Virginia 1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-13, 25-21)
The Yetis opened the weekend with a four-set victory over Southwest Virginia on Friday evening. After splitting the first two tight sets, Cleveland dominated the third and closed out the match in four behind a balanced offensive effort.
London Brown powered the Yetis' attack with 18 kills and five aces, finishing with a match-high 23.5 points. Amelia Pilgrim added 10 kills and four blocks, while Ariann Hernandez and Janiyah Giddens each tallied 10 kills of their own. Setter Addison Beaver ran the offense efficiently with 28 assists, four aces, and 21 digs. Libero Kaitlyn Clutter anchored the defense with 23 digs as the Yetis improved to 3–1 in their last four matches.
Pitt Community 3, Cleveland 0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-18)
In Saturday morning's match, the Yetis faced a tough Pitt Community squad and came up short in straight sets despite several bright spots.
Brown once again led the offense with nine kills, while Beaver contributed six aces and 17 assists. Giddens added five kills and a pair of blocks, and Clutter posted 13 digs on the back line. Despite the loss, the Yetis showed resilience against one of the stronger Region 10 opponents.
Cleveland 3, Lenoir 1 (25-17, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17)
The Yetis bounced back in the afternoon match with an impressive win over Lenoir Community College, closing the day on a high note.
Brown once again led the way with 15 kills and three aces, while Beaver recorded a double-double with 26 assists and 14 digs, hitting an efficient .500 on the day. Pilgrim, Hernandez, and Truly Gibbs each chipped in seven kills, and Clutter added 13 digs to stabilize the defense.
Cleveland Community College improved its overall record with two strong home victories. The Yetis' depth and determination were on full display throughout the weekend as Head Coach Jamie Wilson's squad continues to gain momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
